Athlete Blueprint

Like no other, Athlete Blueprint™ is a comprehensive, 3 phase performance and injury prevention assessment that breaks through the walls of traditional thinking to unleash the athlete’s speed, power & resiliency. Overuse and wear & tear injury have long been the athlete’s greatest health threat, while to a lesser degree impact injuries can often produce difficult healing complications. With the intense physical demands placed on the athlete, these “kinds” of injuries can often create unique skeletal and neuromuscular complications that weaken the resiliency of the athlete and impede proper development in speed and power! Athlete Blueprint™ begins by compiling vital information about the athlete to identify subtle musculoskeletal (muscles, tendons, ligaments and bone alignment) weaknesses as well as key biochemical imbalances that are known to increase health risks and contribute to improper skeletal and musculoskeletal development. Phase 2 & 3 of Athlete Blueprint™ quantifies the high-performance health and skill levels of the athlete’s mechanical functions in direct relation to speed, power, explosion, strength, agility, quickness and endurance. This process provides vital data that is required to maximize speed and power as well as the athlete’s resiliency. Athlete Blueprint™ does this by means of identifying any conflicting musculoskeletal and/or mechanical weaknesses that adversely affects the health and resiliency of the athlete. Athlete Blueprint™ provides bottom-line clarity and sport-specific guidelines that the athlete, coach and parent, needs to know. The athlete can finally be effectively developed and advanced towards optimal health and performance power. …because the health of every athlete matters! For the athlete who demands the best…

The Athlete Blueprint™ includes:

  • Performance Wellness & Hydration Testing/Rating
  • Functional Movement and Biomechanical Testing
  • Nutrition Blueprint
  • Kinetic Power Testing
  • Musculoskeletal Testing
  • Athlete Performance Pre and Post Testing
  • Joint Specific Injury Testing
Core Function • Flexibility • Body Control • Speed • Gate Movement • Footwork/Agility • Quickness • Power • Adaptability • Diet/Hydration • Immunity • Recovery
Components of The Athlete Blueprint™

Phase 1: MUSCULOSKELETAL TESTING: ROCK Institute’s revolutionary system is the first complete, injury-specific corrective system ever developed for the elite athlete. It is built around a proprietary neuromuscular assessment that analyzes the musculoskeletal health of the athlete. Critical pre-injury information is identified and gathered such as micro tearing, growth imbalances, and overcompensation patterns. This vital information is used to determine the overall health and development of the athlete’s skeletal and neuromuscular health.

Phase 2: HIGH PERFORMANCE TESTING: High Performance Wellness, Inc. has created a dynamic, high-performance testing module that safely and effectively defines the athlete’s true power status. The 90-minute performance module analyzes the athlete through a full spectrum of sport-specific skills to define the athlete’s power and anatomical functions. The data accrued from the testing serves to rate the athlete in speed & power as well as skeletal, muscular, tendon and ligament functions. The information also serves to analyze the resiliency of the athlete’s health and design the athlete’s conditioning program.

Phase 3: NUTRITION BLUEPRINTING: Each athlete is evaluated on their overall immune and endocrine health through a comprehensive health assessment that includes acid/alkaline testing, blood sugar testing, food sensitivity testing, dietary and hydration assessing. This data provides the means to test and rate an athlete’s responsiveness towards foods and supplements and how these substances are impacting “internal” immune and endocrine functions. This data is critical to define the athlete’s hidden vulnerabilities to over training, wear and tear breakdown and the body’s regenerative health. If further clarifies any dietary habits that do not support the overall health or longevity of the athlete.

Phase 4: SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY PROGRAM: ROCK Institute utilizes an interdisciplinary team to approach an athletes multifaceted needs. This holistic approach includes our Sports Psychology Program lead by Dr. Jody Adewale. Sport psychology addresses in two main areas:

1. Helping athletes use psychological principles to achieve optimal mental health and to improve performance (performance enhancement)
2. Understanding how participation in sport, exercise and physical activity affects an individual’s psychological development.

ROCK’s focus is aimed at maximizing performance, recovery, and wellness of all it’s athletes. ROCK Institute believes that an athlete’s performance is directly related to his or her mental state and identifying environmental factors the improve upon/interfere with optimal ability. ROCK’s Sports Psychology program addresses issues interfering with performance, motivation, focus,  and attention.

Life Performance Blueprint Assessment (L.P.B.A.)

For the individual, RI creates individual-specific assessments and programs to identify and correct the hidden “causes” that impede performance and break down the joints and body. RI understands that human performance for the individual must be tailored for one’s lifestyle needs and desires. The Life Performance Blueprint Assessment (LPBA) was created to determine lifestyle objectives with the health and performance capacities of the individual. Most people do not have the expertise or knowledge to recognize the subtle shifts behind degeneration. The LPBA identifies core weaknesses/imbalances in three major body systems that govern all human movement, strength, health and regeneration. Through this proprietary process the individual body is empowered to recover and regenerate faster than ever before. Healing syndromes that lead to many maladies can be corrected and the body restored.

Nutrition Blueprint

ROCK Institute helps our clients navigate through the complex-and sometimes schizophrenic- world of nutrition. We create a map for our nutritional program called a Nutrition Blueprint. A blueprint, normally designed by an architect, is a specific set of instructions for building an object like a nuclear power plant, a car or a home.

We like to use the analogy of designing a high-tech, custom home to help our clients better understand the Nutrition Blueprint. Consider the unique design challenges a custom home would present that included 1,200 feet of expansion built along a steep ROCK ridge that would extend above the ocean floor. This example serves to help our clients begin to appreciate how important and complex nutrition is to designing a blueprint that will successfully address their unique physiology. Without a properly designed blueprint, even the simplest of projects cannot turn out as planned – and the human body is no simple construction.

To begin with, we help our clients define and set their goals. In preparing to design the custom home, the architect needs to know many things – look and style, existing structures, new versus old stress demands, functionality, heights, electrical, plumbing, timelines, etc. The Nutrition Blueprint process starts by identifying what you are looking to achieve – improved health, athletic performance, regeneration, longevity, strength, durability, appearance, etc.

"Where one client’s need may be weight loss, another may be training for the 2012 Olympics."

Next, we look at the demands. Just as an architect needs to know what kind of loads and stresses the home must bear, we help our clients identify their nutritional demands – work patterns, physical stress, athletic expenditures, sleep, travel patterns, work stress, etc.

"Where one client may be middle-aged and working 9-5, another may be a high-demand executive or one who is recovering from long-term chronic pain or sickness."

Third, we identify the metabolic fingerprint. Just as the architect would need to know about the land topography –the cohesion of a ridge, whether the soil beneath the main structure is soft slope, sandy soil, clay, or ROCK – we look beyond weight, height, Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, health history, genetics and other traditional metrics, to define the metabolic fingerprint. One’s metabolic fingerprint also clarifies what foods produce or deplete energy, healing, hormonal balance, and other critical factors. By using targeted lab tests combined with physical assessments, we identify vitamin and mineral content, immune strength, hormonal involvement, energy production capacity, and other key metabolic indicators that set the baseline metabolic fingerprint.

"Where one client may have a sluggish digestive system, another may have an overactive immune system or hormonal complications."

FROM HERE, we design the Nutrition Blueprint, precisely connecting the dots on what to eat – how much and when – food combinations, sleep environment and proper hydration, as well as which supplements can be used most effectively.

The benefits of a detailed and comprehensive plan are obvious and evident to our clients as their health and performance increase. We go beyond the subjective and appraise success through measurement and retesting. Our experience and research of more than 25 years has shown how retesting the metabolic fingerprint allows us to both graph our client’s improvements as well as provide milestones for continuing to refine their health, performance and longevity.

For those desiring to maximize their health, performance & longevity, the Nutrition Blueprint is the gold standard – because it is uniquely designed for you!

Steps To Build A Blueprint

1. Your Consultation
The first step in developing your plan for better health is an in-depth 60 minute session with your Registered Dietitian & Nutrition Specialist. This session will allow us to get to know you, and where you are starting from with regards to your health. Several baseline measurements such as body composition, lab results, and your Function Nutrition Dietary Questionnaire will be assessed and used to determine your starting point.

2. Your Plan
We will analyze your results, clinical needs, and personal goals to develop an individualized plan that is fit to meet your needs. A customized eating plan, hydration requirements, sleeping tips, supplement and exercise recommendations will be core components. Special considerations for weight loss, weight gain, food allergies or intolerances, lifestyle management or correction of medical and/or chronic conditions will be addressed.

3. Your Nutrition Blueprint
ROCK Institute will ensure you have the right educational materials and health information to support you in your journey to better health. In order to see the optimal results, you will need routine follow ups (30 minute sessions) to track your progress. This is a major factor for success, and provides an opportunity for your ROCK Registered Dietitian to make adjustments to your plan as you progress. Specific group or individual programs may include weight loss, weight management, chronic disease management or reversal, grocery shopping tours, home and family menu makeovers, and weekly weigh-ins.

4. Referral Coordination
If service referral is needed, ROCK Institute will help you get in contact with our Performance Specialists, Physicians, or Corrective Therapy to meet your needs for overall health and wellness. Should medical specialists be required as part of your patient care, we will make referrals to the best qualified ROCK Approved physicians most capable of helping you with your advanced health concerns.

Stem Cell Regenerative Program

For years ROCK Institute has referred clients to California Stem Cell Treatment Center, where they provide care for people suffering from diseases that may be alleviated by access to adult stem cell based regenerative treatment.

The Center utilizes a fat transfer surgical technology to isolate and implant the patient’s own stem cells from a small quantity of fat harvested by liposuction on the same day. Patients who seek care at the California Stem Cell Treatment Center are evaluated by a respective member of our multispecialty expert panel of Board Certified physicians representing many medical fields. The California Stem Cell Treatment Center emphasizes quality and is highly committed to clinical research and the advancement of regenerative medicine.

CSCTC was founded in 2010 for the investigational use of stem cells deployments for degenerative conditions. The source of the cells is actually stromal vascular fraction which is a protein rich segment of processed adipose tissue. Stromal vascular fraction contains a mononuclear cell line (predominantly autologous mesenchymal stem cells), macrophage cells, endothelial cells, red blood cells, and important growth factors that turn on the stem cells and promote their activity. We have high numbers of viable cells and we are trying to learn which diseases respond best and which deployment methods are most effective. We are growing and continue to use our surgical methods to deploy SVF for various degenerative conditions. CSCTC employs a clinical research coordinator to protect our valuable data and our vision is to perfect our treatments and ultimately teach them to other physicians around the world.

California Stem Cell (Cell Surgical Network) Technology

The Cell Surgical Network uses adipose derived stem cells for deployment & clinical research. Early stem cell research has traditionally been associated with the controversial use of embryonic stem cells. The new focus is on non-embryonic adult mesenchymal stem cells which are found in a person’s own blood, bone marrow, and fat. Cell therapy around the world is shifting its focus from bone marrow based cells to adipose (fat) derived cells since the cells are easy to obtain and generally very robust. Adipose fat is an abundant and reliable source of stem cells.

The best quality adipose cells are derived from the enzymatic digestion of liposuctioned fat which can be performed at the bedside in an essentially closed system to protect sterility. Autologous stem cells from a person’s own fat are easy to harvest safely under local anesthesia and are abundant in quantities up to 2500 times those seen in bone marrow.

Clinical success and favorable outcomes appear to be related directly to the quantity of stem cells deployed. Once these adipose derived stem cells are administered back in to the patient, they have the potential to repair human tissue by influencing healing and also forming new cells of mesenchymal origin, such as cartilage, bone, ligaments, tendons, nerve, fat, muscle, blood vessels, and certain internal organs. Stem cells’ ability to form cartilage and bone makes them potentially highly effective in the treatment of degenerative orthopedic conditions. Their ability to form new blood vessels and other tissues makes them suitable for mitigating a large number of traumatic and degenerative conditions.

We have anecdotal and experimental evidence that stem cell therapy is effective in healing and regeneration. Stem cells seek out damaged tissues in order to repair the body naturally. The literature and internet is full of successful testimonials but we are still awaiting definitive studies demonstrating efficacy of stem cell therapy. Such data may take five or ten years to accumulate. In an effort to provide relief for patients suffering from certain degenerative diseases that have been resistant to common modalities of treatment, we have initiated pilot studies as investigational tests of treatment effectiveness with very high numbers of adipose derived stem cells obtained from fat.

The Cell Surgical Network’s cell harvesting and isolation techniques are based on technology from South Korea. This technological breakthrough allows patients to safely receive their own autologous stem cells in extremely large quantities. Our treatments and research are patient funded and we have endeavored successfully to make it affordable. All of our sterile procedures are non-invasive and done under local anesthesia. Patients who are looking for non-surgical alternatives to their degenerative disorders can participate in our trials by filling out our treatment application to determine if they are candidates. The Cell Surgical Network is proud to be state of the art in the new field of Regenerative Medicine.
